TILE TO CARPET
When the setter sets his tile next to carpet, is there a way he can protect both tile and carpet? Thanks
to the new PRO EDGE carpet tuck strip from National Metal Shapes, the answer is a resounding
"YES!". The setter puts one of these strips into the thinset as he sets the last row of tiles.
The overhang opposite the tiles provides the perfect edge to protect the carpet from wear and fraying. The angle is specifically designed to
"bite" into the edge of the carpet making a secure edge with a scant
3/8" of metal showing.
The profile is available for 3/8" tile (10314) and 5/16" tile (10324). Finishes available include:Mill, Bright Gold, Bright Silver, Satin Gold, and Satin Silver. They are in industry standard 8 foot lengths and packed 400 feet to the carton.

DECORATOR TRIM
Sometimes the perfect transition is one that shows metal between two different colors
of tile or two different patterns. Sometimes it is desirable to use a thin strip of
metal to provide a welcome visual break in an installation that is all the same
tile. In the past,tile setters were very limited in what they could use to accomplish these
purposes. Often the products used did not provide the optimum bonding to the floor nor
sufficient edge protection for the tiles.
Now thanks to National Metal Shapes' introduction of the DECO-STRIP moulding as part of the
PRO EDGE line of mouldings and trims for tiles, the problems are solved. The "L" angle
arising from the horizontal perforated leg is just the right angle to provide edge
protection for the tile. The 1/4" wide strip visible after the tile is installed is just
large enough to be noticed- to break things up- without becoming the center of attention.
The strip is thick enough (1/8") that it could be ground in a terazzo setting where a silver
metal line is desired.
PRO EDGE Deco StripThe Deco Strip (Item # 10521) is available for 5/16" tile. Item # 10511 for 3/8" tile is also now available. The profiles are packed 96 feet to the carton (12 lengths 8 feet ea.). Standard finishes available include: Mill, Bright Gold, Bright Silver, Satin Gold, and Satin Silver.

STAIR TRIMS
Stairs can be a particular problem for the tile setter.How to protect the edges of the tiles
and cover the tickness of the tread without using tiny tiles
that are time consuming or curved ceramic trims that can themselves chip and crack?
Thanks to PRO EDGE from National Metal Shapes a dependable economical solution is
available in two forms.
The PRO EDGE line now boasts two different shapes to protect and beautify stairs set with ceramic tile - each available in two different sizes.
One Stair nosing, item # 10411 (for 3/8" tile),
has a ridged lip designed to serve three purposes. It not only protects the edge of the tile wonderfully, but also protects
the homeowner. The edges of the stairs are more readily distinguished creating better visual perception for the person walking down the stairs.
It is, therefore, less likely the homeowner will "misstep". The ridged surface provides a small amount of slip resistance
in itself.
The other stair nose profile, item # 11411 (for 3/8" tile) offers the same edge protection as the "L"
angle, but in one step beautifully covers the stair riser. The only visible surfaces are a
narrow (less than 1/8") strip of metal at the edge and the typical drop across the riser saving time and, therefore, money.
Both profiles are available for 3/8" tile (item # 10411 [with lip] item # 11411 [without lip]) and for 5/16" tile
(item # 10421 [with lip]
item # 11421 [without lip]).Finishes include: Mill, Bright Gold, Bright Silver, Satin Gold,and Satin Silver. The profiles are packed 12 pieces (96 feet) to the carton.
Each piece is 8 feet long.

RETRO FIT TRIMS
Sometimes tile setters neglect to install any edge protection at all. If the carpet installer tries to tuck carpet next to unprotected tile an accident can chip or crack a very expensive installation.
National Metal Shapes has solved this problem with its Retro Fit Trims. A 3/32" wide piece of metal covers the corner of the
tile. The strip is secured under the carpeting by means of a nail groove. A wood tack strip can be applied (if necessary)
to hold the carpeting and pad in place.
To go over 5/16" tile order item # 2174. For 3/8" tile, order item # 2274. The profiles are packaged 40 pieces to the carton (480 ft). Each piece is 12 feet long.

EXPANSION JOINT
What do you do with a tile floor to allow for expansion (most pros will tell you it is mostly expansion)
and contraction of the tiles due to changes in temperature and humidity? An expansion joint that will work in the middle of the run, OR next to the wall.
Punched aluminum "L" angles with the proper angle for appropriate edge protection are joined with a replaceable elastomeric snap-in insert. The
insert, available in gray is replaceable if it becomes soiled or damaged. No tiles have to be
removed to replace the insert.
Use one metal leg and one insert to allow for a control joint where the wall meets the floor.
The elastomeric expansion joint is available for 3/8" tile. Ask about item # 411071 for a gray colored wall control joint and item # 410071 for a gray colored floor expansion joint. The elastomeric insert in a gray color is item # EI10071.
